100 Million North American Homes in 2004

New York, NY, July x, 2003 — The Koala Brothers will soon bring its kindhearted message of "We're here to help!" to young readers everywhere! Beginning in Summer 2004, Spellbound Entertainment's debut preschool property set "down under" will come to life in an all-new series of engaging books. New York-based marketing firm Big Tent Entertainment, brokered the deal with Random House Children's Books, the world's largest English language children's trade book publisher, for exclusive North American rights to publish new titles centered on koala brothers, Frank and Buster, and their community of outback friends.

The Koala Brothers is the debut property of UK rights-holder, Spellbound Entertainment Limited, headed by Peter Curtis (Bob the Builder, Rubbadubbers) and business partner, Nick Barrington. With a firmly-placed emphasis on respect for others, kindness and emotional support, the highly-anticipated TV series will debut in more than 100 million North American homes beginning in 2004. The series will air on Disney Channel during its learning-based programming block for preschoolers, Playhouse Disney. In addition, The Koala Brothers currently boasts commitments from many international broadcasters, including the BBC in the UK, TV Ontario in Canada and Super RTL in Germany.

The debut publishing program for The Koala Brothers is based on the new TV series, consisting of 26x30-minute episodes, produced in stop-frame model animation. As part of the partnership, Random House will translate the simple storylines and striking settings of the soon-to-debut TV series into a variety of charming and innovative children's books. The initial program will feature a hardcover storybook, 8"x 8" paperback picture books with added value, coloring and activity books, novelty books and more. SRP $3.99-9.99

"We are delighted to have concluded a major licensing deal with Random House and to have found such a prestigious publishing partner for The Koala Brothers in North America," said Peter Curtis, Spellbound's Joint Managing Director.

"We are thrilled to be working with Random House, the world's leading children's book publisher, on The Koala Brothers," said Richard K. Collins, CEO of Big Tent Entertainment. "Random House's great strength in developing, marketing and distributing a property is unparalleled in the publishing world and we feel it is the perfect partner to help us communicate this gentle property's hallmarks of sharing, consideration and compassion to young readers throughout North America."

"It is truly a ėg'day' when a property as special and engaging as The Koala Brothers comes along," said Chip Gibson, President and Publisher of Random House Children's Books. "We're so pleased to be working with the talented teams at Spellbound and Big Tent Entertainment, who will bring a delightful story with unique characters and a pro-social message that we believe in to children across North America."

A second wave of The Koala Brothers books directed at early readers will follow next summer's initial release. The new offerings will include additional hardcover and novelty titles scheduled for publication in Fall 2004.

Licensing opportunities abound with the rich characters, settings and pro-social themes of The Koala Brothers. The standout series takes place in the Australian Outback and features a delightful group of indigenous animals, including Mitzi the possum, who is often in such a hurry that she walks right out of her flip-flops, and Ned the little wombat, who has a habit of hitching up his trousers, which always seem to be falling down.
